Lime Overboard began with one (really good) margarita.
After spending many years living in Australia, some of my favourite memories were gathering with friends over tacos and margaritas. Great conversations, lots of laughter, and those simple moments that somehow become the ones you remember most.
When we moved back to New Zealand’s Far North, I found myself missing those rituals—and the friends I shared them with.
So I started creating my own little ritual at home.
Living in Ahipara, we’re lucky to have some of the most incredible west coast sunsets in the country. On warm evenings, friends gather on our deck to watch the sun sink into the Tasman Sea, cocktail in hand.
I don’t drink often, but when I do, I like to make it special.
That’s where Lime Overboard began.
The Margarita Ritual
A margarita is more than a drink. It’s a feeling. A visual experience. Bright citrus, sweet and salty flavours, beautiful textures, the crunch of the rim, and that first sip that makes the moment feel special.
What started as a search for the perfect margarita quickly became an appreciation for the little details that make a drink feel memorable.
A beautifully rimmed glass.
A perfectly placed lime garnish.
The anticipation of that first sip.
Those little touches transform a drink from something you simply consume into something you slow down and enjoy.
I started drying my own limes and experimenting with citrus rim blends, creating the kind of cocktail experience I loved sharing with friends.
Before long, people were asking where they could get them too.
And Lime Overboard was born.
Crafted in the Far North
Today, every Lime Overboard product is carefully crafted in small batches from our home in Ahipara, New Zealand.
Our dried limes are made from real fruit, carefully prepared to preserve their natural beauty and flavour.
Our Cocktail Rim Blend combines dried lime, organic raw sugars and New Zealand flaky sea salt to create the sweet, salty citrus finish every margarita deserves.
